every time I have this opportunity to rub minds with human resource professionals house. I I I look forward to it and it's usually it's it's a sensitive thing I always like to do because there's a lot that we still need to do in our in our spare, you know, for the world to see. There's a lot of um I used to tell some of some people in my inner circle that there's a lot of brand

brand and marketing communication that HR professionals need to do for us to continue to occupy the space that we're supposed to occupy so that we can do what we need to do and so that we can achieve the results that we need to achieve you know for the organizations and for that which I believe God has put in our hand to steward. Okay. So I'm going to let me start my slideshow.

And it's going to be a session where we'll be learning, you know, together and sharing thoughts. And I believe that for most of us in this room, what we're going to talk about, you're not hearing it for the first time. So, I'm not coming to bring some academic perspective, you know, or, you know, aerodite, you know, scholarly. No, no,

no. That's not what I've come here to do. I just want us to share thoughts, rub minds together and you know see how we can together chart a better course forward as we move on in our profession as people managers. Okay. And I'll start by sharing this thought you know before you start wondering what has green truck what's what does it have to do with uh

HR. Okay. So just I mean come with me on this journey. This green truck is a story about how I grew up. This green truck you're seeing well not this not this tush is my father's green truck. And that story of green truck I'm going to be sharing with us as we start this session because that truck has been the most instructive part

of my life you know and also has been a reminder of an assignment you know in leadership in life and I'll share what this truck is about sometimes in the late 80s my parents moved from one city from one town in a state to another I won't call it a city you know so moved from one town to another town in Ou state because you know they didn't want their only

daughter to go to a boarding school and so I had to move they had we had to shift base and you know we all moved to the town you know and then we moved to this estate that just seems so serene you know everything is just calm a lot calmer than where we're coming from and my first day of presuming school this particular green truck that I'm talking about I never liked the truck I wasn't proud of it because I felt uh why now my

father should be using like maybe Benz you know used to be Benz 190 in those days where are the OG's I'm sure the OG's can relate you know when in those days if you have Benz one night 190 you're the real G you know and then it was this truck they called it pick up ah and then we'll sit in front of the car with my dad my dad you know boisterous man wonderful man I must say he will start gisting with us you know on our

way and this particular first day in school, first day of me going to a secondary school. And then we're just going and my father kept looking around. We saw a lot of children walking to school. Saw a lot of children at the bus stop trying to take transportation. We went I didn't even see anything. I didn't feel anyhow. The second day, the first child we saw on the road, my father packed.

He packed his car, engaged the the boy, started asking him questions. What's your name? What's the name of your school? Where's your house in this estate? What do your parents do? What's the name of your school? And he ended with are you willing to hop on the ride with me? I'll drop you I'll drop you by your school. And he did that for every child we met on D. I was oh god ah I didn't you know I started feeling very uncomfortable for God knows what reason
