Find the hook in a Short

The first sentence of a Short decides whether people keep watching. Transcribe a few Shorts in your niche and compare their opening lines. Common patterns:

  1. A question the viewer wants answered.
  2. A bold claim that the rest of the video backs up.
  3. "Stop doing X": a common mistake, named up front.
  4. The result first, then how it was achieved.
  5. A numbered promise, such as "three tools that…".

Use these as patterns for your own wording, not as text to copy.

Limits you should know

  • Free and guest transcripts are published to the public library. Pro transcripts stay private to your team.
  • Captions and speech recognition contain mistakes, especially in names, numbers and noisy audio. Auto-generated captions often have no punctuation (see the example above).
  • Shorts with music only, or with on-screen text but no speech, produce little or no transcript.
