YouTube chapter generator

To generate YouTube chapters, paste the video link below and select Generate chapters. The tool reads the transcript, picks where the topic changes, titles each chapter in a few words and gives you a list that starts at 0:00. Timestamps are taken from the transcript, not written by the AI.

Example output

Real output of this tool, generated on from a video in the public library: MrBeast Joins The Sharks And Likes What He Sees | Shark Tank US | Shark Tank Global (Shark Tank Global). It is shown unedited; a run on the same video can word things differently.

0:00 Introducing Ball 2
1:31 Playing with the toy
3:04 Sales and financials
4:27 Shark rejections
5:34 MrBeast's offer

Free and Pro

  • Without an account: AI tools need a free account.
  • Free account: 5 AI runs per day, videos up to 60 minutes. Up to 12 chapters.
  • Pro: 30 AI runs per hour, videos up to 120 minutes. Up to 40 chapters, with style and count.

Pro also lets you choose a short, descriptive or emoji style and set the number of chapters.

How the chapters are made

The AI only chooses which lines of the transcript start a chapter and proposes a title and a quote from that line. Code then looks up the time of that line, makes the first chapter start at 0:00, drops any chapter shorter than 10 seconds, and needs at least 3 chapters. A chapter whose quote is not in the transcript, or whose title contains a name or a time that is not in the video, is removed.

Limits you should know

  • AI tools need a free account. A free account gets 5 runs for videos up to 60 minutes. Pro allows 30 runs per hour for videos up to 120 minutes. A run that fails or finds nothing reliable is not counted.
  • Results are private to you. They are not added to the public transcript library and not listed in the sitemap.
  • AI output can contain mistakes. Every title and sentence is checked against the transcript and dropped if it is not supported, but you should still read the result before you publish it.
  • Videos without captions need their transcript pasted in. Fetching a transcript from a link is limited to 20 videos per hour.

FAQ

Does YouTube already add chapters automatically?

YouTube can add automatic chapters. Chapters you write in the description replace them, and this tool gives you a list you can edit.

What are the rules for chapters?

The first timestamp must be 0:00, there must be at least three in ascending order, and each chapter must be at least ten seconds long. The chapters validator checks any list.

Are the timestamps accurate?

They are the start times of transcript lines, so they follow the captions. If the captions are off, the times are too.

Can I use a video without captions?

Paste its transcript with timestamps, or an SRT or VTT file. Text without times cannot give chapter times.

Is the result public?

No. It is not added to the public library or the sitemap.
