Transcript splitter for ChatGPT and Claude
Paste a long transcript, choose a maximum size per part (12,000 characters by default) and select Split transcript. Parts end at sentence boundaries and never exceed the size. Copy the starter instructions first, then each labelled part, so the assistant waits until it has the whole transcript.

- Paste Copy instructions into the chat first, then copy each part in order.
Example output
A short sample written by TubeTranscript (not a real video), run through this tool when the page was built.
Input
This sample transcript was written by TubeTranscript to show how splitting works. Each part ends at the end of a sentence. No sentence is cut in half unless it is longer than the limit on its own. The example uses a limit of 400 characters so the parts are short. With the default of 12,000 characters, a long talk needs only a few parts. Every part is labelled with its number and the total, so the assistant knows when the transcript is complete. Paste the starter instructions before the first part. Then send the parts in order and wait for each reply. When the last part arrives, ask your question about the whole video.

How to send the parts to ChatGPT or Claude
- Paste the starter instructions. They tell the assistant how many parts are coming and to reply only "OK" until the last one.
- Paste each part in order. Each starts with "Part X of Y".
- After the last part, ask your question: a summary, notes or anything else.
Choosing a size. 12,000 characters is roughly 2,000 English words. If the assistant reports that a message is too long, lower the size; if it handles long messages well, raise it to send fewer parts. Sizes are counted in characters or words, not model tokens.
To get a transcript ready to paste, use YouTube transcript for ChatGPT, which adds the title, link and a starter prompt.
Limits you should know
- Everything runs in your browser. Text you paste and files you choose are not uploaded to TubeTranscript or anywhere else.
- Sentences are detected by ., ! and ? followed by a space. Unpunctuated auto-captions count as one long sentence, so they are split between words instead.
- A single word longer than the limit is split between characters.
- The "Part X of Y" label adds a few characters on top of each part's size.
- Sizes are characters or words, not tokens; a model's actual limit depends on the model and plan.
FAQ
What size should I choose for ChatGPT?
Start with the default 12,000 characters. Lower it if a part is rejected or cut off; raise it if your assistant accepts longer messages.
Will a sentence ever be cut in half?
Only when a single sentence is longer than the size limit, which mostly happens with unpunctuated auto-captions.
Does this work for Claude and Gemini?
Yes. The parts and starter instructions are plain text that any chat assistant accepts.
Is my transcript sent to a server?
No. Splitting happens in your browser.
