Translate a YouTube transcript

To translate a YouTube transcript, paste the video link, pick the target language and the output format, then select Translate subtitles. TubeTranscript fetches the captions, manual or auto-generated, translates only the text and keeps every timestamp. Download the result as a text file, an SRT or a VTT file.

Next up is a company using AI to re-imagine the ultimate classic toy. Hey Sharks, I'm Andrew. And I'm Kevin. We're both dads from rural Pennsylvania and we're here seeking $200,000 for a 10% stake in our company.

00:00:24,720 --> 00:00:40,720
Sharks, play isn't what it used to be. Kids glued to their phones, their tablets, video games. We love technology, but not like this. Well, we want to see kids get up, get outside, get in the backyard and just invent crazy games. That's why we created Ball 2.

Output

Pick a language

Text file, SRT or VTT

  • Text file (.txt): one caption per line, no timestamps. For reading, notes or pasting into a document.
  • SRT (.srt): numbered cues with their start and end times. Import it into a video editor or YouTube Studio.
  • VTT (.vtt): the same cues for HTML5 video players and web pages.

From a YouTube link, each cue is a paragraph that groups several caption lines, so the times match the video but most cues are too long to show on screen as subtitles. An .srt or .vtt file you choose keeps its own cues, one translated cue for each original.

The download is named subtitles.es.srt (or .vtt, .txt).

Limits you should know

  • AI tools need a free account. A free account gets 5 runs for videos up to 60 minutes. Pro allows 30 runs per hour for videos up to 120 minutes. A run that fails or finds nothing reliable is not counted.
  • Results are private to you. They are not added to the public transcript library and not listed in the sitemap.
  • Machine translation: ask a native speaker to check it before you publish subtitles.
  • A video without captions cannot be translated from its link. Get its text with AI transcription first, then paste it here.

FAQ

Can I translate auto-generated YouTube captions?

Yes. When a video only has auto-generated captions, those are used. They often have no punctuation, so the translation can read less smoothly; the timing is not affected.

Does translating change the timing?

No. Only the text of each caption is translated; start and end times are copied unchanged.

Can I download the translation as a text file?

Yes. Pick Text as the output to get one caption per line without timestamps. Pick SRT or VTT to keep the timing.

I already have an SRT file. Can I translate it?

Yes. Choose the file in the tool above, or use the SRT translator page, which works the same way.

Which languages are free?

Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese. Pro adds the other languages and up to 5 at once.
