  • People over 50 face labor shortages and high demand for their experience in short-staffed careers like teaching wisdom on YouTube, sales, land surveying, diesel mechanics, and digital marketing.
  • YouTube advertisers and platforms value older creators because people control personal wealth and viewers look for content from individuals with life experience.
  • High employee churn in fields like sales and high turnover rates create opportunities for older workers who tend to stay with employers longer.

These are five jobs that are so short staffed that they're begging people over 50 to apply because everybody tells you that after 50 you're too old to get hired and that is nonsense. So, here's the mistake that most people over 50 make. They go after the same jobs as 25-year-olds where the company wants fast and cheap labor and they lose. The smarter move as a 50-year-old is to go where the thing that the companies can't find is experience and where there's a real labor shortage. Then the companies

are not hiring you in spite of your age, they're hiring you because of it. And AARP says that people 55 and older control about 70% of the personal wealth in America, so the customers with the money are your age. And I've helped thousands of people get into new jobs like Brian for instance who landed a fully remote digital marketing job at 59 one week after he started applying. Or nurse Jen who was able to fully replace her income and quit her job as a nurse from the career path that I recommended to her. And now she's traveling all over the country in her camper van. So, every

stat is on the screen with its source. There's no AI slop here. My team and I work very hard on these videos and I will tell you the one that I picked for my own brother as well. So, if you appreciate me making this type of content and you want to see me make more of it in the future, then let me know by gently choosing that like button. Let's jump into it right now.

Okay, so first one we're going to be talking about is teaching your wisdom on YouTube. So, there's a shortage here too. There are millions of people online desperate for advice from someone who's actually lived it and not nearly enough people making it. Just look at Bernard Albertson. He sat down in front of the camera and made a video called an old man's advice with a bad camera, no editing, and just a man talking about what life taught him. And that one video got over 38 views and according to Viewstats that single video made about 189,000. Same thing with Dry Creek Wrangler School. He's been around horses

for over 30 years, raised seven kids, and he just sits down, hits record, and talks about whatever is on his mind with no fancy setup. And his video, When You Just Ain't Got It Together, has over 8.6 million views and according to VidIQ that one video made somewhere around 23 to 62,000 dollars. And his channel has 1.68 million subscribers. And then there's a channel called Dad, How Do I?

It's just a dad teaching the stuff that a dad would teach you. How to tie a tie, how to shave, how to change a tire. And his video, How to Tie a Tie Easily, has over 3.5 million views, and the channel has over 5.7 million subscribers. And the reason these videos do so well without fancy editing is that people want wisdom. So it used to be that the easiest cheat code on YouTube was, step one, be a hot girl. Step two, get views.

Step three, profit. Now, it's step one, be over 50. Step two, get views. Step three, profit. Seriously, advertisers want to advertise to older people. YouTube wants older people on their platform. YouTube wants older creators. And even younger people would like to watch older creators. As well as other older people would rather watch older creators as well. And there's very simply a supply and demand imbalance.

There's lots of demand for people making content for older creators, and there's not a lot of supply of older creators actually making the content. And I've been saying this for a long time, and I've gotten tons and tons of community members results. There's just countless amounts of older community members that we have that have gotten results on YouTube. But people started saying, "Oh, well, Shane, you're just, you know, cherry-picking the winners." And I took that personally. So I literally picked a random member of my family, my brother Zach, who's in his 50s, and I blew up his YouTube channel in less than 1 month, right? His very first video that

he posted got over 800,000 views, and 1 month in he made $214 in a single day. And that's the exact system that I'm going to be teaching at the live training this week. So click that first link in the description and the pin comment below. And if for whatever reason you're not convinced that you don't need any fancy tech or any editing, or if you don't think that this is going to work for you because you're over 50, well, just look at this one.

How to Make Pickle Pepsi at Home for Free from M&J Metal. And this video looks like it was recorded with an absolute potato for a camera. There's no editing whatsoever, and there's no proper structure in this video. In fact, when he's actually showing you how to make the pickle Pepsi, he's doing it off camera. So he's not even showing you mixing it together. He's just talking about what he's doing. So this video has some of the worst production quality I've ever seen, but it didn't matter. It got 11 million views and made $55,000.

Right, so if you want to learn how to do YouTube, even if you're not tech-savvy, like what Bernard, Dry Creek Wrangler School, my brother M&J Metal, etc. They all did it. Join my free live training by clicking that first link in the description and the pin comment below, and we'll show you exactly how it's done. All right, YouTube just got 10 times easier and nobody is talking about it. You used to need an entire film crew, and it used to be a full-time job for you to just do any work at all on YouTube. But now, you can get work done

in as little as 15 to 30 minutes a day, and you can actually grow a full-time YouTube channel. That's exactly what I'll be talking about at the live training that we're doing this week. Exactly how to start YouTube, step-by-step for beginners. So, click the link in the description and the pin comment below to check that out, guys. I will be answering questions before, during, and after the live training.

It's completely free, plus I'll be giving away an AI that is designed to help you pick your niche, if you don't have one in the first place, or if you already have a niche, it's going to help you make it 10 times better. So, really looking forward to talking with you guys. This is stuff that we've never talked about before. So, click that link in the description and comment below. I look forward to seeing you there. Right, so the next one is getting a job in sales. Now, you might think that this is hard, and many sales jobs are hard, but hear me out, because there's a specific type of sales that I recommend to people

without much or any experience at all. Because according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are about 1.8 million sales job openings every single year. Not because sales is growing, but because people keep quitting. Right? Sales teams lose about 35% of their reps every year. So, this is a high churn career. And that's exactly where being over 50 is your advantage. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that workers 55 to 64 stay with their employer about 9.6 years, compared to 2.7 years for workers

25 to 34. So, a company losing a third of its sales team every year doesn't need another 25-year-old who's going to leave right away. It needs someone who stays, and when it's time to close a big deal, people trust the person who's been around, and that's you. Now, additionally, this is especially good if you've been in a particular industry.

Let's just say you spent a lot of time in the medical industry. Well, you could do medical sales, and because of the fact that you have so much experience in the medical industry, and just literally the fact that you're on the older side, in many cases you'll do significantly better right off the bat because people trust other people who have experience in their industry, and they also trust people who are older and have some wisdom. And not only that, in many different sales roles and certain industries, for instance, you're going to be selling to executives who make the buying decisions. And according to Wharton researchers Peter Cappelli, the

average age of top executives at America's biggest companies is 57. So, the people signing off on the big deals are your age. And people buy from people that they relate to. So, a 57-year-old executive would rather sit across the table from someone who gets them than from a 23-year-old reading off of a script. And that's you if you're on the older side. Now, you might be thinking, "Well, Shane, I've never done sales."

Well, there's a specific type of sales that I always recommend, right? I like tech sales because you don't need a sales background. You don't need a degree, and a lot of these jobs are remote. Now, just to be clear, the best thing for you to do is probably just to go into a sales job that's related to whatever industry you already have experience in, but if you don't have any experience in any industry and you're just wondering which one is the best to get into, I would argue tech sales. And typically with tech sales, you're going to be working with other companies. So, this is what's known as a B2B sales

role, and it's really more focused on developing long-term relationships with these companies, figuring out what they're struggling with, and figuring out how you can actually help them solve those problems versus kind of a sketchy used car salesman just trying to get anybody to buy anything in a car lot.

And we felt a ton of people get tech sales jobs as well. And in this job, they're basically people who sell software and technology to other businesses, and that does sound overwhelming, but it's actually not, right? So, tech sales in general makes about 136 to 255,000 dollars a year. When you first get started, you're likely not going to be making that much, but it is very realistic to get up to those levels. In fact, one of our community members, Antoine, I interviewed him on my channel, Antoine had never worked in sales, either, and he just spent 15 years in one industry doing everything

except selling, and then he switched into sales later on in his career because he saw that these sales guys were making a killing. And he ended up making $378,000 his first year in only 9 months, and by the time I interviewed him, he was making over 540,000 a year.

>> Last year, uh my W-2 shows that I made 540,000, a little bit over, but let's just say 540,000 dollars. >> Now, the only way he was able to go from zero to making this much is because of the fact that he already had industry experience. He was on the older side.

Now, what we did past this is we helped him start and grow a YouTube channel using our system as well. And so, on top of his job making over 500,000 a year, he started making a ton of money from his YouTube channel, too. And on his YouTube channel, he helps a lot of people get into those careers, right?

So, he's now making six figures a month, and he built all of that while working a demanding sales job and raising two kids. So, there's great money in tech sales and a lot of the different careers that we're going to talk about on this list, but there's arguably even more money in being the person who teaches it. And that's actually a wonderful thing because it used to be that there'd be no real reason for you to teach other people how to do your job, right? You're just making more competition for yourself. But thanks to YouTube actually rewarding you for sharing your secrets, you can actually make significantly more

money by teaching other people how to do your job than doing the job itself, which is awesome. And the reason that works is simple. You can teach people anything that you know as long as they know that you exist and they see you as someone worth listening to, right? As long as they're helping them solve their problems. And the fastest way to get people you exist is YouTube. Every video you post puts what you know in front of people who are already searching for it.

Now, you might be thinking, "Well, Shane, I'm over 50. I'm not tech savvy. I don't have a high-paying job to teach anything about. You know, I've never made a video in my life." Well, just look at my brother. Zach's in his 50s, almost 30 years in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. He'd never set up a camera in his life, never recorded a video in his life besides just recording videos on his phone, and was not tech savvy at all. And I just sold him to start YouTube, bro. And he trusted me. He posted his very first video, literally just talking about what he learned working in the trades, and that very first video blew up and he went from

zero to full-time income in less than 1 month. Right? So, he was making $214 in a single day, and that's a $78,000 a year run rate. Then, he closed out his first year doing over $18,000 in a single month. So, if you want to see how Antoine and Zach did this, join my free live training this week. Now, I'm going to be revealing how I grew my career channel, how I helped my brother Zach, and how I helped Antoine as well as many others do this. And I'm going to be doing that at a one-time live event this week, so click the first link in the

description in the pin comment below to attend that. And we do have limited seats, almost every single time we completely run out of seats. Right? So, there's only a limited amount of people that we can have in our Zoom call, so click that link to secure your seat. And we're going to be teaching you step-by-step, even if you're a total beginner, exactly how to pick your niche, pick the right video ideas, make the videos very easily, and actually monetize your YouTube channel. Right?

So, if that sounds like something that you're interested in, click the that first link in the description in the pin comment below, and I'll be there answering questions before, during, and after the presentation. So, I look forward to seeing you there. Oh, and by the way, I'll be giving away a niche validator AI that we spent thousands of hours split testing and working on that's basically going to help you pick your niche in the first place if you don't have one, or if you already have one, it's going to help you make your niche 10 times better. So, do not miss out on this. It's a completely free tool and a completely free event, and we look

forward to seeing you there. All right, next is a land surveyor, and here's another quietly good one. So, PropLogics reported that there are simply more survey jobs than there are surveyors, and there's about 65,000 people in the field, but only about 9,000 are 34 or younger. So, the whole profession is aging towards retirement with almost nobody behind them. And Section 11 Outdoors has a day in the life of a land surveyor at around 120,000 views, and it gives you a really clear look at the

Frequently asked questions

Companies lose a large percentage of sales representatives every year and need someone who stays, while executives making buying decisions are often the same age.

The speaker recommends teaching wisdom on YouTube, sales positions, land surveying, diesel mechanics, and digital marketing.

Diesel mechanics make about 54 to 77,000 dollars a year.
