What is an angel? Before encountering one directly, I thought it was a fable, why would a being be equipped with a pair of wings like a bird? It seemed like some sort of fable to me, indeed told by certain religions and perhaps echoed from religion to religion until I came across a first case, then other cases, until I had an in-depth discussion with one of them.
I would say it is a very specific category of beings that, in my opinion, never goes through incarnation. It is absolutely not an obligation to incarnate into a biological vehicle, such as the one I currently carry. There are many beings who have never done so, and who never will, throughout eternity, angels are part of it. So it is an entity that has the particular ability to travel very low in the dimensional layers and also very high, a range of considerable possibilities while remaining totally themselves, souls.
