We will start with the next session, so welcome back everyone. And welcome to those joining online. What does it take to transform government when the systems that have served us for decades must meet the expectations of a digital world?
How do we build for the future while continuing to deliver the services to the to Canadians that Canadians rely on today? The question set the stage for the legacy to leading edge.
No, I'll start that again. From legacy to leading edge, transforming government for the digital era. Interpretation and captioning remain available through the QR code, and please have your own headphones for interpretation.
Uh for visual attendees, they can enable CC translation in the player. We'll hear from you during the final 15 minutes, so you keep keep your questions in mind at the as the conversation unfolds.
When we open the Q&A, those in the rooms can use the standing microphones in the middle of the room. And online participants can submit questions throughout the session through the Feedloop Q&A session. And our volunteers will ask them as uh the questions on your behalf.
So, to lead us in this conversation, please join me in welcoming our moderator, Jean-Luc Cairo, and our panelists. Jean-Luc, over to you. >> All right. Bonjour tout le monde. Uh thank you for uh joining us in our session today.
Uh it should be a great discussion uh with some uh really incredible leaders in the public sector and the public service. My as as you heard my name is Gianluca Cairo. I'm the global vice president for public sector strategy and operations at Dayforce. A little commercial on Dayforce if you'll indulge me. We're a global global human capital management platform.
We are a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. We have thousands of customers globally across all industries including public sector. We're proudly built in Canada and continue to be led by our Canadian founder and CEO.
Part of my career I've I've I've spent in the public sector and and the other half in technology. So unfortunately I've seen government technology transformation failures on both sides of the table. But so this is a topic that's incredibly important to me. Before we get into the session, I'd like to invite Brienne Lemay to come up who's our senior director of user experience and change management to give you a little bit of a flavor as to what Dayforce is and what
the future of pay and HR will look like at the government of Canada. Brienne? >> Thank you. So as Gianluca said, we're going to walk through a little bit of a demo of what Dayforce would look like. Before we get started, there's a few things I would like to just preface with. So one to begin with, what you're going to see on the screen is what we like to call dummy data. So it's no one's real personal
information. So do not worry, you're not seeing anyone's pay information up front. So just want to make that clear for everyone here. Secondly, as we've been kind of doing the build and the design of this and now going into testing, what you see on the screen will give you a good idea of how someone would interact with the platform.
Do not think that the buttons might remain there or might change between now and go live. There are testing that's happening. That means that there are things that may shift throughout. So what you're seeing today may not be the end product of what you're going to see when things go live across the GC, but it'll give you a very, very good idea of how someone would interact with the platform itself.
So, with that, um, tech team, if we could start the demo.
So, let's switch over to Tabitha's profile. So, she's been with the GC for a little while, so her landing page looks familiar, but it's tailored to her day-to-day. So, things like you'll see here her balances, her earnings, and the quick links that she's going to need.
And getting around is really easy. So, she can click through widgets or she could also just type in the search bar. So, for example, if she's recently moved and she would like to flag that she has a change in her address, she can actually start typing address and the form pops right up. So, there's no more looking around.
And if she wants help, the AI agent is right here. She can ask things like, "When's my next pay?" And it'll pull up the information instantly. Now, it's important to note here the AI agent does not make any decisions on pay. It's simply there to help Tabitha navigate Dayforce and to help her understand her own data.
She can also compare her last two pays. And when she wants to go deeper into her pay, she can open up the pay comparison widget. Now, this is where she gets a clean side-by-side view of her previous pays, plus a breakdown of her earning and deductions.
She can even drill into a specific day, like so, which is super helpful to note which day her acting pay started if she was in an acting situation. And sometimes we know the answers live outside of Dayforce, like pensions or benefits. But even then, the system directs her to the right place. So, there's no more remembering which website does what.
Now, today, like most employees, Tabitha would like to book some time off. Once again, no wrong door. She can get there through the widgets or directly from her quick links. And what you're going to notice here is that as she actually puts in her reason for her leave and the dates, you're going to see that her balances are actually going to update in real time.
So, you're going to see here on the right upper hand corners the numbers for sick actually or vacation actually move, right here. So, she gets to know how it's going to impact her balances before she hit submit. And once it's been sent, she can actually see what's in the queue, what's been approved, and who's involved. So, this ensures transparency and accountability all the way through.
So, whether it's your first day like Marla, or just another day in the GC like Tabitha, Dayforce brings together HR and pay in a way that's intuitive, transparent, and all in one place. So, now let's go see Tabitha's manager.
So, Dayforce also helps managers keep a pulse on their teams and stay connected just as easily. So, here's Alexis, he's a manager within the GC, and this is his Dayforce homepage. So, once again, same clean layout we saw earlier, but tuned to what matters when you lead people.
So, he gets quick insights into his team and everything he needs to action items is right up front. So, the first place he'll check is the onboarding tracker. Now, this shows every new hire on his team who's wrapped up their onboarding tasks, and who still has items left. So, there's no digging, there's no spreadsheet, and everything he needs is right here.
And remember Marla? Alexis can see the task that Marla completed earlier instantly. Now, right next to that is his own task list. So, everything he needs to do as a manager to support new hires. We've got pre-first day task, first day steps, and ongoing follow-ups. It's all there so nothing gets missed, but most importantly, it also ensures a consistent onboarding experience for every new hire.
Now, we'll go move to the next little thing, which is the little check mark here on the right upper hand corner. That's the approvals button. So, it pulls every request into one clean list. You get time off, shifts, timesheets, you name it.
And when he opens a request, he actually sees more details than the employee. So, since he manages a team that functions by shifts, for example, he can see the impact and who can cover it before he actually approve Tabitha's leave request.
So, another thing as a manager we'd like to do is get a quick pulse checks on hours and costs. For that, he can actually consult the period review over here. So, Dayforce will pull up a live dashboard showing hours, premiums, overtime, and even the cost calculated right in front of him.
And if something stands out like overtime, he can actually click into the employee's timesheet and see the rules checked behind it. So, he gets the why without needing to chase anyone down. Last thing as a manager we'll show here, we like to manage people and think of them as whole of person perspective. And so, for that, he can actually go to the My Team panel here.
And this will pull up any details of any of his direct reports all from one little window. So, it keeps them connected without extra steps. And that's the manager experience here in Dayforce. So, it's intuitive, it's transparent, it's easy to use, and it's all in one place.
So, I'll hand it back over to Jean-Luca. >> Thanks, Breanne. Give her a round of applause. Great. I think the mic is working. It is. All right. Thank you very much, Breanne.
