I will be showing this on a PlayStation. On Steam and Xbox, it's basically the same. So, starting off, I use R1 for sprint still. I'm old school. You can make use of R2, which is the standard, if you just started the game. You can control the pace of your player with adaptive sprinting because there certain sprint levels. You can walk, you can jog, you can sprint, etc. But I don't feel like it's that much effective compared to R1.
Still shoot with square, and then we move on on to the defensive part, which is the most crucial one. I do have match-up on X. This is basically making small side steps to block shots and intercept passes once you're in that passing lane. And then we have call for pressure on square, also old school. So, most of you guys been asking why do I have pressure on R2. So, the main reason for me having pressure on R2 is so that I can switch fast and easily between a scripted pressure line or a manual pressure line by making use of R1 and R2 at the same time, which is super cancel.
By releasing one button, in this case R1, I can go back to a pressure line, a scripted line, running straight towards the ball in in in a straight line. So, that's the main reason for me using pressure on R2. We then have shoulder charge, which I hardly use, but now with a power tackle, I will try to make more use of it. And then the detail settings, also an important one. Smart assist is always off. Cursor change, the more you go up, the more assisted. You don't want unassisted because even when attacking you have to change your player
manually, which you don't want. After each pass you have to change player as well, which is too much work. Semi-assist still gives you the freedom, especially when it comes to defending, so that's the one I'm sticking to. And then cursor type, this is more a personal preference. I got it on player name, so I have the player name on top of each selected player, so I don't have to look down on the bottom of the screen, which saves you a few milliseconds. If you play in competitive, those milliseconds do make the difference. And then in my opinion, one of the most important settings, ball orientated or player orientated when
switching players. I have it on player orientated, which means it uses the selected player as the center point when switching players with the right stick. As you can see in this example, with player orientated uses the selected player as base point, and when you pick ball orientated, it uses the ball as a center point. In my opinion, it's way harder to select the right player you want when using ball orientated because sometimes you have one, two, or three players close to each other, and then you need the ultimate precision with your right stick to select the right players, and that's is
taking too much time. So, in my opinion, player orientated is way more accurate than ball orientated, especially when you're playing 1 v 1. And then we have pass level. Pass level one is the most assisted one, which means you don't have to think about the power of the pass. It does give you fast passing animations, but less precision, less freedom, especially when it comes to through passing. It's it's quite limited. With the normal pass with X you almost get the most perfect passes, whether it's from 1 m or the other side of the pitch.
You only have to think about the direction with your left stick. With level two, the normal passes with X are more or less the same as level one, very assisted, but the through passes are a bit more manual, so you have a little bit more freedom. And with level three, it's both the normal passes and through passes, which is more manual, gives you more freedom in directions. I noticed that when playing on the highest levels, there were some pro players using level three as well. It's way harder to intercept the through pass, which is basically a game changer. And level four is full manual. The reason for me or
most pro players not using level four is because it's simply not rewarding enough. Yes, it does take a lot of skills, but it it it takes a lot of effort. It It takes It takes a lot of time. Takes a lot of effort to to master level four. I do respect everyone using level four. Takes a lot of skills once again, but it doesn't win you championship. I haven't seen anyone using full manual yet becoming world champion. So, I wouldn't recommend using it. But, if you play for fun, if you play for realism, that kind of stuff, then go play level four. But, in
general, I would stick to level three, but only if the gameplay is responsive. If you don't have network issues, no delay, no input delay, no laggy moments, then level three is the perfect way of playing. The main reason for not being able to let play level three when the gameplay is delayed or laggy is because with a pass and you have to adjust the pass power. You have to do it manually. For example, want to pass it from one side to the other side, which takes a lot of power. It does take a lot
of time to charge up that pass, which simply doesn't work when you have a lot of delay and a lot of lag. So, in that case, I wouldn't recommend level three. So, yeah, once again, only play level three when the circumstances, conditions are perfect. No delay, no lag.
If you do play offline as well, I would recommend level three. More freedom, more skill-based. But, in general, level two might be the best because everyone knows how the evil ball servers are. Almost every game has lag, sometimes input delay as well. So, then I would recommend level two. If you are playing far away from a server, constant lag or delay, then play level one. Simple as it is. Eventually, it's all about competing, getting the wins. So, make use of the pass level which suits you the best. L2 press gives me the shoulder
charge if I double tap L2, it goes for standing tackle. Or, if I double tap match up, it goes for standing tackle. We got shot up basic, sharp touch, pressing the sprint button twice. So, the next settings are pure uh personal preference. I don't like uh these circles and and directions uh while playing the game. So, I have direction guide off, next player indicator off. It can be useful if you do see the next player indicator and you simply have to press L1 if that's the player you want to select next. But, but I personally don't use it. Fast search guide off, target guide off, positioning guide for
co-op as well off. And then faint command type, I got it on advance. You can make use of smart if you don't know what the combinations are or the commands for certain skill moves, you can go for smart, but if you are competing, best way is to stick to advanced. Okay, so these were the controller settings.
We then moving on to camera. As you can see, all modes I have it on dynamic wide. If you do qualify for tournaments, the only camera mode you're allowed to use is dynamic wide, so why not sticking to the same camera all the time? Yes, there are certain camera types that gives you a better view if you play more possession base such as blimp, very much zoomed out, but gives you a better view once again. But if you're competitive player and want to qualify
for offline tournaments or online tournaments, official tournaments, then then you have to stick to dynamic wide default. No need to change the settings, the height or distance. Just stick to the default one, and that's it. All right, so these were my controller and camera settings.
