Every Resonator in Wuthering Waves has a distinct and diverse role within their respective teams. While some characters may not deal much damage themselves, they can provide powerful supportive effects, whereas others rely on their immense damage output to coordinate with teammates for massive burst damage. Today, I'd like to share 5 characters that I personally consider to be a bit too overpowered in the game.
First, let's look at Number. Fifth place goes to the Glacier team's healer, Bayzee. Bayzee's role is that of a universal survival unit within the Glacier system. She doesn't just provide healing and defense shred for the team.
With the right investment, she can also contribute decent damage to boost the team's overall performance. In the open world, Bayzee can perfectly showcase the advantages of her skills. By long pressing her skill to enter chainsaw mode, she can execute a wide range grouping effect on enemies. When you run into nimble flying hunters or echoes on the road, you only need to use her Resonance skill to easily handle them.
For those who spend a lot of time exploring the open world or farming, Bayzee is definitely a very efficient helper. Next is Number. In fourth place is Havoc Rover. I personally believe they are the most practical all-purpose character among all main DPS units.
Not only do they possess wide area damage and crowd control capabilities by default, but thanks to their Resonance Liberation, which doesn't rely heavily on Resonance Efficiency, they are also incredibly efficient at clearing mobs in the open world. Regarding progression, building Havoc Rover is relatively simpler compared to other main DPS units. While others struggle with Resonance Efficiency, Rover doesn't need it at all.
Plus, with the 5-piece damage set providing extra crit bonuses, it's easy to stack their crit rate to nearly 100%. If you don't have a habit of speedrunning or chasing high-difficulty scores in the Tower of Adversity or Depths of Elusive Realm, having a Havoc Rover team will basically satisfy all your daily needs. It's a pity that no new Havoc characters have been released recently.
This has led the developers to feature Havoc-resistant enemies in various recurring challenges just to give other elemental characters an advantage, forcing Havoc Rover to take the pressure. Fortunately, our Rover God can still achieve solid scores even when facing enemies with Havoc Resistance. It seems the only way to truly stop our strongest Rover is to gatekeep them in the stages.
Third place, the top spot for the most versatile secondary slot goes to Lina. As the first opening character of 3.0, she not only pairs with Emmys and Lust to form a brand new team system, but she can also boost the performance of past characters like Pleta or Yuno through her various support abilities.
You only need the base character to enjoy these buffs, and even without her signature weapon, equipping any spear provides excellent utility. In actual combat, Lina doesn't require complex operation skills. Her charged attacks come with super armor and simple aerial follow-ups, making her nearly immune to being interrupted by enemies.
With her powerful support abilities and high team compatibility, Lina arguably offers the best value in the current version. Second place goes to the great goddess of the machine world, Yuno.
Yuno is positioned as a fast-paced sub-DPS who provides ultimate buffs and healing. Usually, the output of such sub-DPS characters is slightly lower than standard main DPS units, but Yuno is different. Her damage multipliers are almost on par with a main DPS. With a certain degree of investment, she can almost serve as a main DPS herself, clearing many high difficulty levels.
She can even clear this season's challenge tower successfully when paired with Wa and Chuanran. Regarding mobility, Yuno is a skilled long-range aerial combatant. After switching to Lunar attacks, she can utilize her aerial advantage to suppress enemies lacking anti-air capabilities. Against bosses that shield themselves or require hitting specific weak points, Yuno can use her skill to teleport behind them and break their defenses.
I believe that aside from being slightly lacking in team utility, Yuno's other abilities exceed the standard expected of a sub-character. A super strong main DPS disguised as a sub-DPS is likely the most fitting way to describe her.
Star tier. The undisputed number one is our queen, Chuanran. As a support, healer who arrived as early as version 1.3. She still maintains a very high usage rate in the current 3.0 era, and her extreme versatility makes her suitable for practically any main team composition.
As a support for the team, Chuanran not only provides the whole party with stable healing and protection, but the field generated by her ultimate also offers a top tier double crit buff to boost teammates' damage output. Although most main DPS character sets now come with inherent crit rate bonuses, as everyone knows, in Wuthering Waves, anything less than 100% crit rate means you can still fill the crit.
However, because their abilities were simply too powerful, the developers rarely introduced similar survival-focused units in later releases. Even the new healer, Moni, added in 3.0, requires specific blood-related mechanics to reach their full potential if you haven't pulled for their extra copies. When it comes to building them, you only need to invest minimal resources to gain access to extremely powerful support capabilities.
For a weapon, you just need the four-star variations, and by combining that with an energy regeneration set to hit 230% on your stats, you can unleash their full power. It's no wonder there are favorite, main wife, the investment cost is just too user-friendly. I wonder who else you all consider to be an overwhelmingly powerful character. If they didn't make it into this ranking, feel free to leave a comment below and let me know.
