Okay, we're doing uh pre-trip inspection Washington style. We're doing class CDL. Class B and C are essentially the same. The only difference is with class C, I have hydraulic brakes, no air brakes right now. So, I'm going to start first thing on the list, hydraulic brake check. I'm going to start this test with my engine running because I want to establish that I have no warning lights on my
dash. Okay, so I have no warning lights on my dash. So, test number one is complete. I'm going to shut the engine off and then put it to accessory mode and get everything back alive on my dash. Okay, so I'm in accessory. So, now I can continue test number two for my hydraulic brake check. I'm going to identify the regular height of my brake
pedal. I feel it right there. It feels in a good spot. And I'm going to I'm going to pump my brakes three times and then hold it for 5 seconds to make sure that I don't have any leaks in my brake system. So I'm going to pump it 1 2 3 and then I'm going to hold it for 5 seconds. 1,00 1,002
1,003 1,004 1,005. Okay, it's been 5 seconds. My pedal has not dropped at all. So, I I know that I have no leak in my brake system. I'm going to continue to hold the brakes right now firmly because now I'm going to test number three. I want to make sure that my hydraulic brake booster is working correctly. And I'll know because as soon
as I start the engine, I expect my brake pedal to drop slightly, indicating that my power booster is working. So, I'm pressing my brake firmly. I'm going to start the engine. I felt my pedal go down and my power booster is working correctly. So, that concludes my hydraulic brake check. I'm
going to continue from there. Shut the engine off and I'm just going to go to accessory mode um to uh um well, next on my list is parking and and trailer brakes. So, I don't have a trailer, so parking brakes. So, I'll just go ahead and continue that next.
So, I'm going to do my parking brake. I'm going to make sure my parking brake is set all the way. And to test my parking brake, I just simply need to put it into drive and feed off the pedals. My parking brake is holding fine on its own. Back to park. Okay. Next on my list is service brake check. So, I'm going to
put the vehicle in drive, pull forward a couple of feet, gently apply the brakes, both hands on the wheel. I expect that my steering wheel does not pull left or right because if it did, that would indicate that my brakes are out of adjustment. So, I'm going to put it into drive. I'm going to release my brake and I'm going to pull forward a couple of feet gently and gently stop.
Okay, parking brakes uh working or the service brakes work good. There was no pull in the steering wheel. Resecure my truck. Parking brake is set. What's next? Test. Lighting indicators. Okay.
Well, I'm going to go ahead and shut my engine off cuz now I'm going to test all my lighting indicators inside my cab. So, the first lighting indicator that I want to test because I have five indicators. I'm gonna test my ABS light first. So, I'm gonna turn my accessory on and I expect to see my ABS light come on and then it'll shut off.
When it goes off, that tells me it's working properly. So, um ABS light is on and now it's off. ABS light is working properly. So, that's number one.
Next is going to be my left turn signal. my right turn signal, my four-way flashers, and my high beam indicator is right there. So, again, five items: left turn, right turn, four-ways, highbeam, and ABS light. All of my indicators are working properly. Next, I'm going to do
emergency equipment. So, I want you to see that I have a secure and rated, properly rated and charged fire extinguisher. Really, all I need to say is a properly charged and secured fire extinguisher. And then I have three reflective triangles that are in this box. They're not damaged or missing. And then lastly, I have spare fuses right
here. Okay, so that's all my emergency equipment. Next is my windshield and traffic monitoring devices. So, I'm going to inspect my windshield. I want to make sure that my windshield is securely mounted. I want to make sure there's no cracks, flaws, or legal stickers and my windshield is clean.
Next is my mirrors, which are traffic monitoring devices. I want to make sure that my mirrors are clean, they're secure, they're not damaged, and they're proper adjustment for me. They're adjusted for me. Okay. Next is going to be my wipers and washers. I want to make sure my wipers are working
properly. Okay. Wipers, the arms and the blades are securely mounted. They're not uh they're not broken, damaged, or missing. And I can use washer fluid if I need to. There we go. All right. Next is going to be heater and defroster. So, right here, I'm going to put my fan to hot to high, temperature to hot, defrost setting, and
I'll make sure that there's air blowing on my windshield. Okay, let's reset this back. Okay, next is going to be horn. I got to make sure my horn is working properly. I only have a city horn in this truck.
Works properly. All right, next is going to be light operations check. All external lights. I'm going to ask you to please go to the rear of my truck and I'll tell you light. All right. Left turn signal. Right turn signal. Four-way
flashers. Brake lights. Warning lights. Okay. Come to the front of the truck. Running lights.
Okay. Left turn signal. Right turn signal. I'm going to exit the vehicle. Three points of contact
facing. Next on my list, I'm on front of vehicle engine area. So, the first thing is going to be my lenses right here. And let me get my pointer.
Okay. Lenses on the front of my truck. All of my lenses. What I'm inspecting. I want to make sure all my lenses are securely mounted. They're not cracked, broken, or missing, and they're the proper color.
Headlights are clear. All the rest of the lights are amber to the front. Next on my list is fluid levels. Okay, we'll start over here. I want to check my engine oil with the dipstick. I want to make sure it's at an adequate level above the fill mark. Next is my power steering fluid. I'm going to check it through the sight glass. I want
to make sure it's an adequate level above the fill mark. Over here is our coolant. Coolant level is here. I want to make sure it's at an adequate level above the fill mark. If I could not see through a sight glass, then I would check my cap. I would open my cap when the engine is cold and off to check that it's at an adequate level. Okay. Next is going to be fluid and air leak. So, I
want to check all of my engine hoses and and uh clamps to make sure that they're secure and my hoses are not cracked, bulging, they're not worn, and they're not leaking. Um, if I had any leaks, that's when I'm checking under my engine or transmission for drips of fluids of puddles under my engine or transmission.
Next is going to be steering system. Uh steering system. So I'm going to check either through here or through my hood uh my steering gear box. I want to make sure that my steering gear box is securely mounted and not leaking. Uh next is going to be my linkage. I want to make sure that all of my linkage in my steering system under
here is securely mounted. no loose or missing nuts, bolts, or cotter pins, and they're not cracked, worn, or damaged. Uh, lastly is going to be all of my hoses in my steering system going to my gearbox. I want to make sure all those steering hoses are securely mounted, the hoses and the clamps, and they're not cracked, worn, or
leaking. Next is going to be steering axle, and we're going to do the tires. I want to make sure that I check my tread depth with a tread depth gauge. And I want to make sure that I have a minimum of 432 of tread depth on the steer axle.
230 232 minimum on all rear tires. Uh I'm going to check my tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge right here. Now my tire condition. I want to make sure that my tires are not cracked, uh, cut, they're not worn, and they're not there's no bumps or
bulges. Next, I want to inspect my rim. So, my rims are securely mounted. Uh, they're not uh uh dented, bent, or no weld repairs. Next is going to be my lug nuts. So, I want to make sure all the lug nuts are secure and tight, not missing, and they're not cracked or damaged. I would know if my lug nuts
